Details

Dr. Fang received her Ph.D. from the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her main research interests are tackling complex business problems by leveraging interdisciplinary methods from Computer Science (e.g., machine learning and data mining), Economics (e.g., econometric analysis), Behavior (e.g., user study) and Psychology. The research focus is on two areas: (1) business analytics, including trust prediction in online communities, personalized product recommendation, e-commerce and social networks; and (2) user modeling and decision-making, including subjectivity and dishonesty modeling, online review and reputation systems, and data-driven decision making.

Dr. Fang has published more than 20 papers in A-level conferences like IJCAI, AAA and AAMAS, and MIS Journals including Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Electronic Commerce Research and Applications. She has won several scholarships, like IJCAI and AAMAS travel and student scholarships, Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarships (1/15, 2012) in Asia Pacific and NTU-dragonventure joint Scholarships (1/10, 2011).

Dr. Fang is currently the principal investigator of the project “Quality Evaluation of Online Opinions by Leveraging Trust Theory and Machine Learning”, which supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Presently she is the Associate Editor of the ECRA journal, and invited referees of other journals like JASIST, Cybernetics, KAIS, and DSS. She also severs as a Program Committee Member for international conferences, including Trust (2016-2017), IFIPTM (2014-2017), PST 2016, WWW (2014-2015), and ICWSM2014.
